Virginia Smith “Pinkie” Tolson, 82, passed away December 18, 2010. Virginia was born September 3, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Walter D. and Victoria Weedy Smith. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa. She attended Wells College in New York and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority where she held many offices including President. Following college, she worked for Deep Rock Oil Company in Tulsa as an administrative assistant.
In 1952, she married Ralph M. Tolson of Pawhuska, where they made their home. She was active in the community, serving on numerous church, school, and civic organizations. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ralph M. Tolson of the home, daughter Diane Tolson Chaffin of Denver, Colorado; daughter and son-in-law Victoria Tolson and Steven G. Sewell of Fort Scott, Kansas; sons and daughter-in-laws Ralph Bradley and Micheleen M. Tolson of Petaluma, California; Michael Brian and Beverly C. Tolson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Steven Douglas and Shelia W. Tolson of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and grandchildren Michael, David, and Katherine Chaffin; Meredith, Tori, Forrest, and Lee Sewell; Bear and J.B. Tolson; Claire, Abby, and Marshall Tolson; and Stuart and Sarah Tolson.
Contributions in honor of Virginia Tolson may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 10:00 AM, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Father Bob Evans, assisted by Mother Andrea, officiating. Interment in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
